ANGER RAISES THE RISK OF HEART ATTACKS

Dr. Elizabeth Moltofsky of Harvard Medical School has published the results of a study into the causes of 3,886 heart attacks. According to Moltofsky’s data, after an outburst of anger within 2 hours, the risk of a heart attack increased by 2 times.

And if the outbreak was too strong (for example, a person threw things), then the risk of a heart attack increased as much as 4 times.

So 110 people from the sample of Dr. Moltofsky were angry about 2 hours before the diagnosis of a heart attack, and 1484 people admitted that they experienced a strong outburst of anger during the year before a heart attack.

The main reasons for anger were identified by the respondents as difficulties in family life and work, as well as the way to the place of work and home. Anger provokes the release of hormones – adrenaline and norepinephrine, due to which the heart rate increases, blood vessels constrict, the risk of blood clots and pressure increases. At the same time, the manifestation of anger only helps to relieve emotion, while negative processes in the body do not stop. It is suggested that taking beta-blockers may help to minimize the effects of anger.

Also at risk are people prone to depression, anxiety, severe neuroses.
