Six-figure annual incomes are not uncommon, a new analysis shows.
Google, the technology giant from Silicon Valley, likes to be closed when it comes to working conditions or salaries.
But the news portal Business Insider has succeeded in shedding light on the darkness: In order to employ foreign employees in the USA, the company must apply for a visa for them and disclose their salary in it. The American news portal has analyzed 6000 of these visa applications.
The top salary it discovered: $ 389,000 for a software director.
Top salaries for top positions
Up to now, there has only been anonymous information on salaries that employees or former employees had provided voluntarily. A software engineer is said to have been offered a good $ 350,000. An engineering director came to $ 284,000.
And a lawyer that Google wanted to win for itself, apparently received an offer for 290,000 dollars annually. If you want more, you have to work your way up to the Vice President of Engineering: up to $ 475,000 per year is then in it.
But not every Google employee can bet on a salary above the $ 300,000 mark: technical directors, scientists, hardware engineers, UX designers, and product marketing managers can earn up to $ 250,000. For network engineers and product analysts, comparatively low salaries were offered with 81,500 and 85,500 US dollars.
These salaries are paid as base pay in the US. Bonuses and stock options come on top in some positions. Since the tax and social security system in America is different, comparisons with German salaries are only possible to a limited extent. The numbers are always interesting – an overview:
