Scientists came to this conclusion by interviewing 370 young people. Participants in the study had to answer questions about their attitudes towards sex, behavior during lovemaking, and general well-being. The researchers were also interested in the attitude of the respondents to casual sexual relationships, the number of one-time sexual contacts in recent years, and the level of sexual desire.
The study found that the number of people practicing one-time relationships and enjoying them is approximately 42%. They showed higher levels of self-esteem and lower levels of depression than those participants in the experiment who had not had sexual intercourse over the past 9 months.
Experts assure that one-time sex can be useful for the psychological state of a person – casual relationships contribute to an increase in self-esteem and level of satisfaction with life. Sex can successfully fight depression, stress, and anxiety.
The researchers also concluded that people who welcome one-night stands are extroverts looking for new experiences. Such people are impulsive, liberal, take an unconventional view of some things, are not prone to romance, and are calm about cheating.
In order not to regret the night spent in the morning, you should not drink alcoholic beverages and, of course, practice only safe sex. Experts believe that most often the feeling of guilt arises from fears of becoming pregnant or contracting sexually transmitted infections.
