Twelve years after the launch of the Apple tablet, there is still no Instagram app for the iPad. It stays that way, Instagram considers the target group to be “not big enough”.
Instagram: Still no iPad app in sight
There are over a million apps optimized for the iPad. This puts the Apple tablet clearly ahead of Android. However, a potential top app has been missing since 2010, since Steve Jobs introduced the first iPad back then: There is no Instagram iPad app. If you want to use the Facebook/Meta image app on the iPad, you can only load the iPhone app onto the tablet – but then you have to enlarge it, which leads to ugly graphics. And that’s how it should stay for the time being. This was confirmed by Insta boss Adam Mosseri in several tweets he exchanged with well-known Youtuber Marques Brownlee: “The target group is not yet big enough to be a priority. We hope to get to that at some point. But for now, we are busy with other things.”
Fight against the “giants” Youtube and Tiktok
Brownlee had publicly complained that there’s still no iPad version of Instagram – and Mosseri promptly responded, as reported by Engadget. He later added that Instagram already supports iOS, Android, the web, and Instagram Lite – and that its human resources are “smaller than you think”.
