Teresa Riott: “Climax Has Been Created To Combat Stereotypes Related To Gender”

The new platform that aims to promote sexual education and female pleasure has Teresa Riott as its main ambassador.

Masturbation and female pleasure have become a very important part of personal care. At least 44% of women say that masturbating with a sex toy is an indescribable experience. However, it is not always talked about, as it is still considered a taboo subject.

With the aim of ending this hidden secret and starting to talk about it, “Climax” arrives in Spain, a series focused on female pleasure, based on education, to teach anyone how to stimulate the clitoris. From Estetic.es we have spoken with Teresa Riott, the Catalan actress who has joined the platform to help all girls, young people, and women overcome her fears.

“In Spain, an honest, quality, and affordable sexual education platform was needed. As in other countries, we need information on sexual well-being and female pleasure. I personally have learned a lot and, ten years ago, it would have been very useful to have access to this type of content”, explained the actress.

Unfortunately, talking about female pleasure is still a subject that causes too much shame in society. “Not only is female pleasure scarce or unknown, but the taboos on it are still a reality today. Many of my friends have told me how difficult it can be to be intimate due to physical, psychological, or cultural blocks. All these blocks exist because we think that sexuality is innate, something “just like that” and that we should not talk about it. Actually, sex is learned just like libido is maintained. For me, the same thing happens in sex as in the kitchen: it allows you to be creative, but you need to investigate, practice, and, above all, pay attention”.

The new platform aims to promote sexual education and female pleasure

Barriers are the main problems that prevent women’s pleasure from being normalized. A society that lives rooted in looking favorably on male masturbation, but that scolds and punishes women for loving themselves and giving themselves happiness.

“There are many (non-physical) barriers that we still have to break down. The media and social networks are the best springboards to be able to jump them. It is also true that until recently there were no “more serious” projects and we are not only talking about sex toys but about platforms, such as Climax, which far from wanting to talk about sex, which it also does, what it seeks is to train and inform with an educational program on sexuality”, explains the Catalan actress.

It is necessary to evolve and move towards a more feminist society and the first step to achieving this is to eliminate the sexual stereotypes that exist between boys and girls.

Teresa Riott: “There is still a long way to go, but platforms like Climax are there to combat these stereotypes related to gender”

“Although the status of women is changing in the right direction, there are still many stereotypes. For example: in advertising, women are often confined to stereotyped and reductionist roles such as seductive woman, object, submissive, or mother. In addition, stereotypes imposed as a social norm have always been established: children are associated with physical strength, the multiplication of sexual experiments, and the non-expression of feelings. On the contrary, women must be gentle, and conciliatory or they must be seductive to adhere to the standards of femininity.

CLIMAX PLATFORM

With the aim of curbing these stereotypes, and promoting sex education and female pleasure, Climax was born. “A virtual series dedicated to female pleasure that offers to see on the video, without pornographic intention, how women can give themselves or receive pleasure.”

Teresa summarizes what this new series can contribute to society in three fundamental aspects :

“ Confidence in her own body, as different bodies and vulvas are shown.  Information and knowledge, thanks to the 70 techniques that have been used in the training and that have been recorded without filters. Conversations between us, since although very open sexuality is promoted, in reality very few people feel comfortable sexually and know how they should give themselves pleasure”, explains Teresa.

Designed for both men and women. It can help to better understand women and their pleasure. “The training is for everyone who has (or doesn’t) have a vulva and who wants to learn new masturbation techniques and how to intensify their orgasm(s). It is also intended for couples  who are curious to learn more about pleasure and how to achieve it.”

TALK ABOUT SEX AT AN EARLY AGE

Teenagers are having sex at younger ages. The figures prove it. According to a study carried out by the Association of Family and Community Nursing of Catalonia (AIFICC), the average age of the first sexual intercourse with penetration is now 13 years. This demonstrates the importance of talking about sex education in schools.

“Sex and pleasure education should start relatively early, I would say around 11 or 12 years old, which is when many boys and girls have already started looking at pornography. In addition, it is very important to explain to them that sexuality is not only about what you learn in school (STDs, reproduction…), but that sexuality is also about sharing, respecting and being a source of pleasure”

“Climax proposes inclusive training to build a movement that encompasses all forms of gender expression, sexual orientation, lifestyles, and expectations,” he concludes.
