Over the past few weeks, Russian women have begun to actively buy cosmetics in stores. The reason is simple: after the majority of Western brands leave the market, girls are afraid of rising prices or even the complete disappearance of some products from the shelves.
And especially the demand has grown not at all for care, but for decorative cosmetics. According to Alena Kwon, director of analytical work for the Rive Gauche chain of cosmetic stores, in March, the interest of Russian women in decorative products from the premium segment doubled compared to the previous year.
Most often, our compatriots bought mascara and foundation: the demand for them increased by 150%. Why? According to Kwon, in this period of crisis for the country, women rely more on rational products, which include mascara and foundation creams. For emotional products like eye shadow and lip gloss, girls are now showing less keen interest.
However, Alena Kwon assured the Russians that they have nothing to worry about yet. According to her, despite the withdrawal of some major foreign brands from the Russian market, retail chains have stocks that will be enough for at least the next year.
Alena also predicted significant changes in the beauty market. Now the vacated place on the field after the departure of large Western players from it will be occupied by competitors, among which there will be many domestic brands.
