At What Age Can Children Be Taught Time Management?

At what age is it already possible to start, and at what is it too late to teach children to manage time? It’s never too late to start teaching and it’s never too late to learn.

What is the time? We are accustomed to thinking that this is a kind of resource, calculated in minutes, hours, etc., and time is regulated by a mechanism called hours. Time is a process of changing space, energy, and matter. To control means to consciously direct the movement of something somewhere.

Accordingly, to manage time is to consciously manage the changes around you. And at what age can a child consciously begin to manage time? From 1.5-2 years old! Yes, already at 2 years old, the child independently does what he wants. Moreover, for various reasons, in some children, it starts earlier. But, in general, from two years.

1. Knowledge. During this period, the child needs to be given a lot of information: talk to him, read, play educational games, and just talk a lot in his presence, with him. Show pictures, listen to music, and explain it.

Do not think about whether he understands everything that you do or not. Just do it. And do it as if you are completely absorbed in this process, putting your energy to 100%. Sometimes a child can be given information 10 times and he will not even approximately understand what it is about, but you can convey the whole essence and importance of the message in one step.

From practice, I will say that many mothers underestimate their children. They believe that their child is not yet at the age to understand what an adult says and does.

Nevertheless, children completely absorb information already in the womb – they feel emotions, movements, and heart sounds. And everything that you say and do – the child will absorb into himself like a sponge. Yes, any of your actions teach a child up to 3 years to create changes around him.

2. Significance. Nurture your child’s integrity, stamina, and need in this world. If you educate, affirm and show him that he is important and necessary, he feels and knows this.

Surely, you have met in your life insecure people who cannot do without someone’s help, or who say: “accept me as I am or leave”, or those who “go with the flow” and think: “There will be a day – there will be food.” These are just those people who have not learned to manage their lives and their space. They do not have an understanding that they are the main thing in life. Because their parents couldn’t bring it to them.

3. Society. Many parents complain that they can’t do anything because when they send their child to kindergarten/school, his health deteriorates, he is influenced by other people and this interferes with the upbringing of their child. All these are “excuses” for lazy parents.

Your child is your mirror. And, if you grow a “core” in him (basic, confidence, health as well), then external influence will not be bad for him. He will be able to see it, understand it, and use it as a resource.

Because the surrounding people and their actions are also an influence that the child tries on himself and accepts or does not accept, depending on the values \u200b\u200bthat his parents have laid in him. And upbringing is work, hard and daily work, which brings corresponding fruits. And it is your task to teach your child to manage time. How you do it is completely up to you.

4. Creativity. There are children who create, and there are those who destroy. Teach your child to create, appreciate, and think creatively. Tell me something, but in something let him show ingenuity and initiative. Such children will easily cope with barriers in the future. After all, they will have the rules that you have given and they will be able to add colors themselves so that their life is even more eventful. Thus, you will give them support – do not be afraid to go forward, and your rear is reliable.

5. Responsibility. Do not scold children just because you need to express your emotions. If you think that a child needs to be punished, then exhale first, understand what and why, and only then contact him – without emotions, reasonably.

Teach your child to be responsible for what they do. Explain that he is the cause of everything. And if a child does something, then it has consequences.

So let’s sum it up.

You can teach children to manage time and you simply must do it. They need to be taught from birth and even before birth.

In order for the child to be able to cope with everything in life and not be afraid of changes in the future, bring up in him an independent, balanced, creatively developed, and emotionally stable personality.
